Frequently Asked Questions
Who can benefit from speech therapy?
People of all ages, from young children to adults, can benefit from speech therapy. Common reasons include speech sound difficulties (such as lisps), language delays or disorders, stuttering, social communication challenges, voice concerns, and swallowing difficulties.
Do I need a referral from a doctor?
No. You can book an assessment or therapy without a doctor’s referral. However, some extended health insurance plans may require a referral for reimbursement, so we recommend checking your individual coverage.
Can I contact my therapist after the initial assessment?
Yes. After the assessment, you can remain in contact with your clinician. Your therapist will outline next steps, recommended follow-up sessions, and how ongoing communication will be handled as part of your therapy plan.
Are virtual sessions effective?
Virtual speech-language therapy can be very effective for many clients and goals. Your therapist will help determine whether virtual sessions are appropriate based on individual needs and circumstances.
